Did you know that your skin absorbs 60-70% of what you put on it? That’s right, most of the garbage you put on your skin is absorbed into your body. To help you clean it up let’s turn to our cabinets- and check out this soothing banana face mask to get you started!
Bananas are a super food (in my opinion) as they’re a great source of usable healthy fuel for our bodies and also contain gut-healthy properties as well as key energizing vitamins like B6; and additionally, bananas are also great for our skin. Bananas contain vitamins A, C, E that all have antioxidant properties, and vitamin C is a precursor for collagen (a key skin component).
One of my favorite things to do with bananas for the skin is to make a simple mask out of a mashed banana along with some other key household items as well. The banana is hydrating and contains key vitamins that help to promote skin health, the honey is anti-bacterial and anti-viral, and the oats are soothing- and together it makes for a fantastic facemask.
Simple Smoothing Banana Face Mask:
Prep time: 5 minutes
Total time: 5 minutes
Makes: 1 mask
- 1 banana, mashed
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1-2 Tbsp oats- ground up or instant
- In a mixing bowl (or regular bowl) mix together the banana, honey and oats with a fork.
- Once the mixture is well blended apply to face and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes or until dry.
- Rinse face to remove the mask and feel your face hydrated and happy- repeat once weekly.
