Thanksgiving has come and gone and we’re all feeling a little (or a lot) more bloated and uncomfortable than usual. Over the next few days (and anytime you have a little more eating than usual) it’s important to get back on your regular routine by eating lots of fruits and vegetables, exercising and including items like this detoxifying green smoothie.
This green smoothie has pear and kale that both contain nutrients (sulffur-containing and quercitin) that can help the liver to naturally detoxify and loads of fiber that can help to cleanse the colon. This smoothie also has a touch of banana that can help to promote healthy gut bacteria that can also help to reduce bloat and keep the system healthy. Lastly, this smoothie also contains ginger and lemon that are great for immune health and can also help to promote healthy digestion.
Try this smoothie as a snack or as a meal replacement.
Detoxifying Green Smoothie
Prep time: 5 minutes
Total time: 5 minutes
Makes: 1 serving (16-20 oz)
- 1 pear, cored
- 1/4 banana
- 1 handful kale (3-4 leaves)
- 1 handful spinach
- 1-inch ginger
- 1/2 lemon, peeled
- 8-10 oz unsweetened almond milk
- Wash and prepare ingredients.
- Add ingredients to the blender and blend on high for 45-60 seconds, until well blended.
- Once well blended, serve and enjoy!
